I am Dr. Cheryl McDermott DVM - veterinarian and founder of
Kr'msun Hounds.
Kr'msun began in early 1998 with the addition of my first Pharaoh
Hound, "Lauren" (CH Khantro's Spirit of Isis SC, FCh). She
introduced me to the world of competitive dog sports. We had fun
learning lure coursing, obedience, herding, flyball, and competing in the
conformation ring. I had owned dogs of various breeds throughout
my life, but I quickly fell in love with the versatility of
this breed and was hooked. Very shortly after Lauren's arrival, my
second Pharaoh, "Kashmir" (Beltara's Kashmir) joined the
family. Neither Lauren nor Kashmir were bred, but both were able
competitors and great companions til the end.
In 2003, I acquired my foundation bitch, "Deja" (Multi Group
Winning, BIF, DC Nefer-Temu Samba de Janeiro SC, RN, VC) from Nefer-Temu
Kennels. In addition to having a very successful specials career
in the show ring, Deja gave us two lovely litters with which we are now
moving forward in our breeding program.
In addition to Pharaoh Hounds, Kr'msun Hounds also breeds Cirneco
dell'Etna (Sicilian Greyhound). In 1999, my good friend Janis Butler
gave me my first Cirneco, "Tu" (Multi-CH Winemall Et Tu).
As with the Pharaoh Hounds, I was quickly enamored by the grace, style,
and unique temperament of this breed. Within the next few years, I
was able to import two more lovely males from Arebutnot Kennels in
Norway ("Brutus" & "Ace"), and acquired my first
bitch ("Bug") from a similar line in the USA, thus beginning my
line of Cirnechi.
